Have Chair Will Travel

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

It’s the law! All places for public use in Israel must be made accessible. Wheelchairs and electric scooters are welcome at museums, nature reserves, restaurants, historic sites, national parks, and urban beaches. In addition to finding readily available ramps and assistance, wheelchair friendly transport is also available.

Starting out at Ben Gurion Airport you will find a number of concessions for the mobility challenged, from elevators and ramps to designated helpers. There’s also a strong network in place so that travelers can receive any necessary equipment or services.

When touring the country with friends and family, there is no need to exclude anyone. There are several private and volunteer organizations that provide needed equipment (electric scooters, wheelchairs, oxygen, specialized vans, respiratory equipment, etc.)

Yad Sarah is the nonprofit organization that provides medical support and equipment to both Israelis and visitors in need. It’s Israel’s largest volunteer-staffed organization, providing a wide array of compassionate health and home care services for people of all ages, with special programs directed at support for older adults and for children and adults with disabilities.

Access Israel mission is to promote accessibility and inclusion to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and the elderly. Travel4All is an Israeli tourism company for people with disabilities and special needs in all aspects. EZ4U is a supplier of mobility equipment on short term rentals.

The Israeli app RightHear, which can be downloaded onto your smartphone, is designed specifically for people who are blind or visually impaired, but is also highly valuable for any person with orientation challenges. McDonalds, PizzaHut, Microsoft, the Caesarea National Park are among the many that offer a new way to navigate sites and facilities in Israel.

No matter if you’re exploring the wilds or moving around the cities, accessible travel in Israel is openly available. Countrywide provisions mean that all public transport and sites must be accessible for all. Regardless of your mobile abilities, Israel is ready to meet your every need and make your journey the trip of a lifetime!
